Take a gamble on midTown Feb. 4

Grassroots midTown, a group dedicated to economic and community development in the Brainerd area, is holding its first Take a Gamble on midTown fundraiser at Wilson Air Center Chattanooga Thursday, Feb. 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

“We want to welcome everyone who lives or works in the midTown or Chattanooga area,” said Executive Director Victoria Overholser. “I think people should come to support growing and moving forward their own community. We’re here to work on and support programs that benefit everyone. Plus, it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.”

The casino-style event will feature gaming tables for entertainment purposes, as well as a silent auction and door prizes, such as airfare for two from event sponsor Chattanooga Airport. Food will be provided by Culinard, the culinary school of Virginia College.

Tickets to the event are $25, which go toward group initiatives such as mentorship and workforce development programs.

Founded last July, Grassroots midTown’s goals are to grow and revitalize the Brainerd area. The group is working together with the area’s business, residential and education communities to move those goals forward, Overholser said.
