Sugar Plum’s Bakery creates a new way to imbibe through dessert

Imagine the rich, warm, melt-in-your mouth delight of a decadent chocolate brownie. Even the thought of the sweet cocoa flavor cascading across your tongue might make you think about a glass of milk. But what about a different drink? For instance, say, a brown ale?

Although it might not be the pairing that comes immediately to mind when you think of your next dessert, Chattanooga native Grace Kindiger wants to change that: one sweet treat at a time.

Calling it Sugar Plum’s Bakery – named in honor of her rescued kitten – and teaming up with Chattanooga Brewing Company, Kindiger is creating a new way to imbibe through dessert.

Concoctions such as her Brown Ale Brownie, made with Chatt Brew’s full-flavored Chestnut Street Brown Ale, will be sold through the brewery beginning this month. Other options, like an exquisite Fernet-Branca and Coke cupcake, will be available for order online.

The key to Kindiger’s sweet pairings lies in the icing and filling, which contain the complementary alcoholic flavors – and about a shot of alcohol per cupcake.
