LaFayette’s Daily Reporting Center works to get students who are on probation back on track in more ways than one.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College GED teacher Angie Purcell helps DRC students work toward their GED, and two – John Colbert and Patrick Smith, both of LaFayette – are getting close to achieving their goal.

Purcell said the program has had six GED graduates and seven others who have passed parts of the test.

“The Daily Reporting Center is a program for people who are on probation, usually repeat offenders with substance abuse issues,” she explained. “They are trying to break the cycle of jail time to stay clean and out of jail. “They’ve all made poor choices and are suffering the consequences for poor choices.
