North Hamilton County residents will soon have easier access to services provided by Northside Neighborhood House with the opening of its North Hamilton site. A grand opening event is set for Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NNH, a nonprofit organization that provides education and assistance to area residents living north of the river to promote their independence, has been providing services in the North Hamilton community since April 2014 on the campus of Dallas Bay Baptist Church.

“We’re really excited, because we’re bringing a lot of new resources to the community,” said NNH CEO Rachel Gammon.

Aside from meeting basic needs in the community, which Gammon said has been underserved due to its isolation and lack of transportation, NNH has hosted quarterly community meetings to strengthen the church’s work, and has also provided dinner to more than 1,000 people through NNH’s Family Dinner Nights at area schools.

Along with the Soddy-Daisy Food Bank and several area churches, Gammon said NNH has also been collecting data from client interviews and United Way’s 211 calls to enter into ServicePoint, a web-based software system that gives service organizations a complete picture of needs in the area, so they can more effectively manage and coordinate services and guide resource allocation.
