If you go
› What: Kane Brown› When: 8:15 tonight› Where: Bud Light Stage
Since blowing up on social media back in the fall, country singer Kane Brown has signed with a major label in Nashville, released a five-song EP, “Chapter 1,” and put out three singles – “There Goes My Everything,” “Wide Open” and “Excuses,” all of which made the Top 40 on Billboard’s Country Charts
Not bad for a local boy.
Although Brown, who grew up in North Georgia and Chattanooga, has performed across the country, one thing he’s not done is play locally. He wanted to remedy that in a big way, so his people and Riverbend folks did some last-minute wrangling and found him a slot at this year’s festival. Local folks will finally get a chance to see him and figure out what all of the fuss is about.
Brown started recording himself playing guitar and singing on his cellphone a little over a year ago. After posting the videos online, they were an instant hit and his fanbase began to grow. And grow. And grow. Nashville eventually took notice, but wasn’t sure if he was a passing fad or not.
Meanwhile, Brown just kept doing his thing and pretty soon his online fans numbered well above 750,000.
At that point, Nashville really noticed.
After meeting with nearly every country label from here to New York, he signed with Sony Nashville, released the “Chapter 1” and has been going nonstop.
Many people in the industry predict a long and very successful career for Brown, so take the chance to say you saw him when.
