NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An inmate has been injured after authorities say he fell down a rock quarry while trying to escape with another inmate in Nashville.

Media outlets report the Davidson County Sheriff's Office says they were transporting inmates Saturday afternoon from the facility to the Correctional Development Center when 34-year-old Jerry Young and 30-year-old Michael Young tried to run away when the bus stopped.

Officials say the two suspects removed their restraints during transportation and attempted to flee once they got out of the vehicle.

Jerry Young was captured immediately, but Michael Young jumped about 40 feet into a nearby rock quarry.

He was rescued and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital and is back in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
