With only four days left, Riverbend is drawing to a close.
The Riverbend festival, which this year celebrates 35 years of music by the water, will end with a fireworks show on Saturday.
Through the years, thousands of Chattanooga residents and visitors have frequented the formally abandoned riverfront to sing along to a few tunes, grab some chicken on a stick, and rock out. This year, despite the dual threats of heat and rain, attendees again turned out in droves to celebrate the decades-old festival.
Thomas Rhett, a rising country singer, kicked off the festival on Friday, a day that also featured artists such as ZZ Ward, the Aunt Betty band, and Chris Lane.
During his performance, Rhett broke his sound system, and a man proposed to his girlfriend who accepted his offer.
