Churches’ messaging on love falls short
The tragedy in Orlando has reignited a discussion on easy access guns.
Let’s expand the conversation to include our churches, many of which pay lip service to loving everyone, but preach that homosexual acts are sins. “Love the sinner; hate the sin.” Gays were made by God, exactly as straights were, to live useful, productive, responsible lives.
Churches need to get out of people’s bedrooms and concern themselves with people’s souls, not their sex lives. Every repetition of “Love the sinner; hate the sin” adds to the hatred which can culminate in horrific acts of violence. There’s a little bit of blood on the door of every church which preaches that homosexuality is wrong.
