Clausen receives academic award

Brandon Michael Clausen of Signal Mountain was among 76 University of Mississippi students to receive a 2016 Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal, the university’s highest academic award. The students were recognized during UM’s 73rd annual Honors Day Convocation at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on the school campus.

The Taylor Medals were established in 1904 by Dr. William A. Taylor in memory of his son, an alumnus of the university. The award recognizes no more than 1 percent of the student body each year.

Clausen, son of Don and Kim Clausen, is a chemistry major who plans to enroll in medical school. He is a member of the American Medical Student Association, the Sally McDonell Barksdale Honors College, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies, MedLife and Student Members of the American Chemical Society.
