Another chance for discussion
A separate rezoning proposal for a property on 39th Street and Old Mountain Road is still slated to go before the Planning Commission March 14. Anyone can submit questions, concerns or other opinions to regionalpc@chattanooga.gov, or attend the meeting at 1 p.m. in the courthouse on Georgia Avenue. For more information, call 643-5902.
An overwhelmingly negative reaction from the St. Elmo community led developer Ethan Collier of Collier construction to release the property he planned to rezone for a Glenn Falls pocket community development.
However, following the announcement, other residents say they aren’t so sure chasing away the development before it began was the answer.
For resident Lynn Bartoletti, whose property is adjacent to the formerly proposed Glenn Falls development, the fear was that such a development would be divisive in the community and “create an us versus them mentality.”
Then, there were the traffic concerns. The proposed development of 20-22 houses on zero-lot lines would increase traffic on roads that Bartoletti and other residents say are not equipped for.
