ATLANTA - Atlanta officials have issued a boil water advisory for several parts of the city after a power outage knocked out two pumping stations offline.

Local news media reports that heavy storms Saturday evening caused more than 100 outages, fallen trees that knocked down powerlines and impacted 6,000 customers. The advisory includes Fox Theatre in Midtown, Cabbagetown, Edgewood, Old Fourth Ward, West End, Peoplestown, Reynoldstown, Mechanicsville, Summerhill, Edgewood, Avon Avenue and South Fulton County.

Customers living in these areas are suggested to boil water for one minute past a rolling boil before using it to cook, drink or brush your teeth.

The Department of Watershed Management is flushing the system as a precaution and sampling the affected zones to affirm that there is no contamination in the system.
