Authorities have yet to receive a credible tip on the whereabouts of a 9-year-old Hawkins County girl, five days after she was signed out of school under false pretenses by her uncle.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine, speaking to media Monday at a briefing in Knoxville, said Carlie Marie Trent and 57-year-old Gary Simpson were last spotted by security camera footage at a Save-A-Lot store in Rogersville shortly after the girl was taken out of school Wednesday.

“They buy nonperishable items at the grocery store and that’s the last sighting of them,” DeVine said.
