As North Georgia Health Care Center expands its community services, its annual fundraising golf tournament is becoming more crucial.

The second annual event recently welcomed 10 golf teams to Windstone Golf Course with a goal of raising $25,000. The first tournament raised $20,000.

“We use the monies to help us serve the underserved,” said NGHCC Program Director Sharron Mitchell. “We will develop our dental program. Last year, tele-medicine was the focal point of the tournament fundraiser, but this year, dental is. We purchased a mobile health unit. That’s part of our expansion of our mobile wellness program.”

NGHCC Executive Director DeLaine Hunter said the new 38-foot mobile dental/medical unit is getting started.

“We want to go out into the community to serve kids and family for dental and medical,” said Hunter. “We have X-ray on the mobile unit.”
