Though it almost didn’t return this year, Down Home Days is sure to satisfy all ages this year with its large lineup of events.

“We were not going to do Down Home Days and the Community Growth Association offered to help us,” said Chickamauga Lions Club President Eddie Upshaw. “We start out with a bingo and chili supper May 19 at Chickamauga Senior Center at 5 p.m.”

The main festivities on May 21 will begin with a pancake breakfast in the Lillian Ellis Building of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church from 8-10 a.m.

A car show, kids zone, mansion tours, crafts and food will be available throughout the day, live music will be heard from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and an Armed Forces Day Parade will begin at 2 p.m.

“It will be festive,” said Community Growth Association’s Jennifer Tarvin. “The most exciting part is the tribute to our armed forces and Gold Star families. I think it’s good that the Lions Club and Chickamauga Community Growth Association is getting together to plan this.”
