A chance encounter has kicked off a purposeful initiative in Ringgold.

Earlier this fall, while Graysville Elementary School Principal Kerri Sholl was waiting on her cellphone to be fixed, a random man walked up to her and said, “You have such an impact on so many people as a principal of a school.” This made an impression on Sholl. She began asking herself “What is my impact?”

After coming up with an idea to “Be the Good,” she met with Catoosa County Schools Superintendent Denia Reese to request permission to pursue it.

“Being the good in the world, to me, means when other people see you when you are in your job or out in the community, they see you are the good in the world and that positive light,” Sholl explained.

To keep that message and mentality top of mind for students, GES students and teachers wear royal blue shirts that read “Be the Good Others See in the World” and matching rubber bracelets while working on helpful community projects.
