Chris Harr has grown up in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football program.
After a standout prep career at Notre Dame, Harr went to UTC, where he was a two-time all-Southern Conference performer at offensive tackle. That earned him an opportunity to sign a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011, and he played in the NFL preseason.
“I love this town. I love this city. I love this school,” Harr said last week. “I developed more of a love once I got in the program and a player, and it just blossomed from there. I had a great experience with the school. There was no doubt in my mind I wanted to come back and coach here.
“Hopefully I can do it for a while.”
He came back to UTC in 2012 as a student assistant while he finished his degree in health and human performance, then was moved to tight ends coach, a job he still holds. But his newest responsibility is signaling play calls in from offensive coordinator Jeff Durden, who sits in the booth on game day, to the field.
