MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Prosecutors say a man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old mother near the Beale Street tourist destination in Memphis.

The Shelby County district attorney's office says 19-year-old Kwasi Corbin fired an assault rifle from a car into a crowd of people on May 22. Authorities say Myneishia Johnson was killed, and two men were wounded.

Police pursued the car on Interstate 240 and arrested Corbin after he exited the car as it was coming to a stop.

The district attorney's office said Wednesday that Corbin has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and employment of a firearm in the commission of, or in the attempt to commit, a dangerous felony.

It was not immediately clear if Corbin had a lawyer late Wednesday.
