Every football fan wants to watch a memorable game, one they'll be telling the grandkids about for years to come. So shouldn't your tailgate party be just as memorable?

Chattanooga is home to many unique variations of traditional tastes and flavors, and when it comes to chicken wings, the pre-game party's greatest grub, the Scenic City's restaurants and bars make no exception. Before you order another ordinary basket of "safe" hot wings, here are a few game-changing alternatives you should consider.

"It kind of doesn't matter how bad you screw up the wings. You put that sauce on there, it just absolutely kills it." - Charlie Loomis, executive chef and partner

Claiming the top spot in our tailgate lineup, these wings won judge's choice and people's choice at the 2016 Tennessee Whiskey Festival, and the locally made Hoff & Pepper Hot Sauce the name is derived from winning a first place award at the NYC Hot Sauce Expo and a third place award at the World Hot Sauce Awards. With roasted tomatoes, smoked onions and chili paste from the award-winning hot sauce in its mix, this Buffalo sauce's sweet but spicy chili flavor is definitely worthy of your pre-game bash.

"It's something I've never tasted in this town. I can tell you that for sure." - Jesse Howard, general manager and executive chef

Created for the Tennessee Whiskey Festival and back by popular demand, these wings' daring new sauce is the perfect balance of sweet, heat and flavor. Infused with blackberry and rye whiskey and glazed onto smoked wings, a bite with this award-winning sauce will take you through three levels of flavor: from sweet beginnings, to that familiar whiskey burn, to a spicy sriracha finish.

"It's kind of like a sweet heat with a smoky back end to it. Goes really well when you wash it down with some beer." - Nils Millergren, kitchen manager

This unique selection is not listed on the menu, but it should be. Word of this chance concoction is spreading, and it's definitely a customer favorite. Made with a combination of Guinness-based stout barbecue sauce and the pub's homemade Buffalo sauce, this flavor fusion is sweet and smoky with a subtle spiciness kicked up by fresh jalapeños and cayenne pepper.

"Even people who don't like blue cheese like this particular sauce." - Ronald Cameron, owner

This local wing chain has a couple blue cheese specialties worthy of attention, but its newest award-winner deserves just as much love. The wings are marinated for 24 hours, smoked for at least three, flash fried and fire glazed with Carolina-style barbecue sauce for the tangy taste of mustard, but the dish's true delectability comes from the blue cheese crumbles melted onto the wings for flavor-infused meat.
