For the second year in a row, the Tennessee Valley Authority is sponsoring Free Family Nights at the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga. Held on the second Thursday of each month, the family nights provide free admission to all visitors from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. after normal operating hours.

“The Museum is committed to being as accessible as possible to all the children and families of our community,” said Henry Schulson, executive director at the Creative Discovery Museum. “The Free Night program provides an opportunity for all to visit regardless of ability to pay. We are especially pleased to have TVA with its tremendous history of public service as one of our Free Family Night sponsors.”

Through TVA’s sponsorship in 2015, the museum increased its focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities during the free evenings and the Museum will continue to expand its STEM activities in the coming year. In addition to the Museum’s staple exhibits, a science show will be shown in the Science Theater each evening and there also will be a variety of walk-up activities to learn about electricity by building circuits and engage in a variety of other activities during special STEM sessions led by Museum educators.

In 2015, TVA’s sponsorship helped the Museum host almost 10,000 visitors on Free Family Night as well as two community free days held in December.
