Two gang members have been arrested after a shots fired incident Monday night on Rossville Boulevard.
A Chattanooga police officer responding to an 8:40 p.m. call of shots fired was told by witnesses at the scene that the gunshots came from a four-door silver sedan, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department. Moments later, officers at the intersection of Crescent Circle and East 30th Street saw a silver Hyundai Sonata passing them at a high rate of speed.
As officers pursued, they saw the passenger throw an object from the car window. After several blocks, the car stopped and the occupants fled on foot in the 3700 block of Chandler Avenue.
After a brief foot chase, both men were taken into custody.
Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as validated Bounty Hunter Blood gang member DeKendrick Trammell, 29, and the passenger as Jubal Grundy, 26.
To validate someone as a gang member, officers use a series of factors such as tattoos, articles of clothing, social media, and confessions.
The suspects’ vehicle was found to be stolen from Walker County, Ga.
Officers returned to the area of the shots fired called where they found multiple shell casings. Another officer returned to Crescent Circle and found a handgun with an extended magazine and serial number filed off the firearm.
Trammell is charged with evading arrest; tampering with or fabricating evidence, altering of items’ permanent numbers; driving on revoked, suspended or cancelled license; theft of property; possession of firearm during commission or attempt to commit a crime; and eight additional charges.
Grundy is charged with evading arrest; tampering with or fabricating evidence; altering of items’ permanent number; theft of property; possession of firearm during commission or attempt to commit a crime; and two additional charges.
