Since its opening in February 2013, Fort Oglethorpe’s Soho Hibachi has become a hot spot alongside the bustling Battlefield Parkway. Dare I say, the hottest spot? That is, at least according to travel review site TripAdvisor, which ranks Soho No. 1 out of 46 other local eateries.
In 2016, the hibachi spot was voted Best Carry Out by Times Free Press readers in North Georgia’s Best of the Best awards.
“Don’t forget to vote for us in this year’s Best of the Best awards!” reminded manager
Candy Lin.
Voting for North Georgia’s seventh annual People’s Choice Awards is open through Nov. 18. To cast yours visit bestofnga.com.
In the meantime, you won’t want to forget about Soho’s Hixson location, either. While the Fort O. location has had longer to build its customer base, both locations use the same business model: hibachi for half the price.
All dishes are prepared by experienced hibachi chefs using quality ingredients, producing the same quality of dishes you’d find in expensive Japanese steakhouses. However, instead of popping flames and juggling knives, Soho’s chefs work quickly and quietly backstage.
Sure enough, things are already starting to heat up at Hixson’s Soho. On TripAdvisor, it now ranks No. 13 out of 95 restaurants. And its positive customer reviews on Yelp are nearly identical to its North Georgia counterpart.
“Big portions, good prices, good food, very nice staff. I sure wish it was closer to our home in Ooltewah,” writes
one diner.
“This is a really good hibachi restaurant,” another writes. “The prices are lower than those around and the quality is better. The portions are huge, plenty of food for two meals. I had the pad thai “
The pad thai, offered exclusively at Soho’s Hixson location, may be the only difference between the two Soho locations. Featuring diner’s choice of protein, tender noodles, a crunchy dusting of peanuts and a citrus spritz, that pad thai alone is worth a drive from Ooltewah every time.
