Chattanooga Mocs fans can enjoy more than FCS football at home games this season. Starting with the season opener tonight, Sept. 1, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga officials say they hope to reward fans in general – and students in particular – with a series of free concerts. The first features rising country singer Dylan Scott.
In a news release, UTC Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics David Blackburn says the new initiatives are a thank-you to students for the role they’ve played in the Mocs’ recent successes. Besides finishing 15-3 overall and winning 12 straight Southern Conference games at home, the Mocs have led the league in attendance the last two seasons.
“Our student body is such a big part of the atmosphere at Finley Stadium,” Blackburn says. “The energy and excitement they bring help make Finley a very tough place to play. We are doing everything we can to give them a first-class experience and make football games a can’t-miss event.”
Part of the plan has meant turning the northeast corner of Finley Stadium into a student-focused area that includes the Mocs Block tailgate party, student entry and the relocated student section.
