Three of America’s largest companies recently invested in local youth by supporting the Shoes for School event. About 262 Enterprise employees and business partners from Knoxville and the greater Chattanooga area donated more than $10,000 to the inaugural back-to-school event. As a result of the generous contributions from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, Enterprise employees and local businesses, nearly 500 students received a brand new pair of tennis shoes and school supplies.

In addition, the Urban League received initial funding to launch the initiative from the Unum Foundation and $2,500 from State Farm Insurance. The funding received from State Farm was used to buy new tennis shoes for children between the ages of 5-12 who were identified by 10 local nonprofit partner agencies and who registered for the event.
