HONOLULU (AP) – ?Democrat U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard surprised and angered many when she questioned whether Syrian President Bashar Assad was responsible for a chemical attack on civilians. The attack sparked a U.S. bombing of an air base.

But back home in heavily Democratic Hawaii, Gabbard still has a deep reservoir of good will among those who believe their representative is right to question many others take for granted.

Some constituents in deep blue Hawaii called her brave and a “treasure” for criticizing President Donald Trump’s military strike on Syria.

They say Gabbard has been an outspoken critic of “reckless foreign policy.”

Others are confounded by Gabbard’s words and the visit to Syria and they’re looking for candidates to unseat her.
