Hamilton County Register of Deeds Pam Hurst won’t seek re-election

Hamilton County Register of Deeds Pam Hurst has announced she will not seek re-election to the position she has held for the past 23 years.

In a statement released today, she said: “It is time to let someone else serve. I will cherish the time that I have had in the office. I want to thank the citizens, the attorneys and all the users of our office for your votes and support during these 24 years. I also want to thank all of the Register’s employees for their hard work during my years as Register.”

The register of deeds is responsible for filing and protecting many legal documents including deeds, powers of attorney, land plats and military discharges.

Hurst worked in the land title business before being elected as register, according to a new release from her office. In 2012, the County Officials’ Association of Tennessee named her the state’s 2012 County Official of the Year.

She will leave office on Sept. 1, 2018.
