A Bradley County child was sent to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger on Saturday after an accident that pinned the victim under an off-road vehicle.
It’s not known how badly the child was hurt, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman James Bradford said in an email.
The incident – originally reported a crash between an ATV and a truck, but later determined to be a single-vehicle accident -occurred around 11:26 a.m. in the 100 block of Zion Road, Bradford said.
The child was a passenger on the ATV when the driver “experienced a malfunction with the brakes and lost control” while following a truck down a driveway, Bradford said. The ATV struck a tree, rolled over and struck the truck. It came to rest upside down atop the child.
Bradley County EMS transported the victim to the hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.
Bradford did not identify the ATV driver or confirm the age and sex of the child.
