Pastor Bo: A different take on the monument madness

I suppose most people are aware that our country has what could be described as “monumental issues” right now. That is to say that there is a societal upheaval centered on old Confederate monuments.

People who have some composure about them are peacefully speaking out either for or against their presence. People far into the left or right fringes of fanaticism are actually engaging in criminal acts, some of them violent.

As usual, though, my “differently wired brain” has come up with a very different take on the issue.

At some point in the past, certain human beings received huge, visible honors and recognitions from other human beings. Now, years later, those honors and recognitions are being defaced, vandalized and, in some cases, removed and melted down entirely. Honors were given by man, and the same honors are being taken away by man.

There is not one honor ever given by man that does not face this exact same risk.
