Chattanooga Fire Department Chief Chris Adams is stepping down after two years on the job, according to our news partner WRCB.

WRCB reports that he made the announcement at Tuesday’s Chattanooga City Council meeting.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke named Adams as the leader of the department in June 2015. He had been serving as interim fire chief after former Chief Lamar Flint retired in April of the same year.

Adams has worked for the Chattanooga Fire Department since 1990.
