Ring in the Christmas weekend with a performance by the Metropolitan Bells on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Signal Crest United Methodist Church, 1005 Ridgeway Ave., Signal Mountain.
The handbell choir will play a concert of sacred and secular music in the church sanctuary, which has been decorated for the season. Their program includes “The First Noel,” “Ding Dong, Merrily on High,” “Up on the House Top” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.”
The Metropolitan Bells have been featured performers with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Chattanooga Boys Choir and performance venues throughout the south.
Metropolitan Bells is an advanced community handbell ensemble consisting of 15 auditioned ringers from the greater Chattanooga area. They perform on seven octaves of Malmark bells and seven octaves of Malmark choir chimes.
Founded in 1993 by Ken Cochrane, the goal of the organization is to bring advanced sacred and secular handbell music to the community and to promote the art and enjoyment of handbell ringing. The group is currently under the direction of Gary Bynum.
Thursday’s concert is free, however donations will be accepted.
