Study predicts Ooltewah-East Brainerd will get one-third of new homes in coming decade

Over the next decade, Hamilton County’s hottest spot for new residential construction will be East Brainerd-Ooltewah, according to a recent study that predicts the fast-growing area will get 1,735 new homes and 2,541 market-rate rental units – or about one-third of the county’s total.
It makes sense that Ooltewah should rank at the top, said Terry Payne, co-owner of McDaniel and Son Construction Co., which is developing Meadow Stream, one of Ooltewah’s largest subdivisions with about 500 homes.
Ooltewah and East Brainerd are close to the Volkswagen assembly plant, which has expanded and is hiring more workers to build VW’s new Atlas sport-utility vehicle, and is closest to the region’s biggest shopping mall and retail district in and around Hamilton Place mall.
A major new mixed use development, Cambridge Square, also is bringing new housing, upscale retail and dining and office space to Ooltewah near the famed Honors Golf Course.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on in Ooltewah,” Payne said.
