UPDATE Jan. 29 11:48 p.m.: Delta claims its systems are returning to normal after a failure Sunday evening caused nationwide delays.
Approximately 150 flights were cancelled with more expected, while all of its flights during the systems outage were delayed.

“I want to apologize to all of our customers who have been impacted by this frustrating situation,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian in a statement. “This type of disruption is not acceptable to the Delta family who prides itself on reliability and customer service. I also want to thank our employees who are working tirelessly to accommodate our customers.”

Delta confirmed that a systems outage has caused delays nationwide for flights on the ground.
The Atlanta-based airline company tweeted “flights in the air remain unaffected.” However, passengers from several flights across the U.S. claimed on social media that their planes were grounded.
Delta tweeted its IT department is working to fix the issue and issued the following statement on its website:
“Delta teams are expeditiously working to fix a systems outage that has resulted in departure delays for flights on the ground. Flights in the air remain unaffected. Delta apologizes to customers for the inconvenience.”
The company had another systems outage in Aug. 2016 that caused massive delays across the country.
