The Crash Pad is hosting its first Uncommon Art Show on Saturday, July 8, at the downtown hostel on Johnston Street. It could feasibly be termed a pop-up show since the event will only take place one day over five hours.
“We are going to have a couple of people doing live art, but other than that it will be a gallery show with fine art, photography and screen-printing,” says Jordan Haag, general manager of the Crash Pad. “We’re going to feature local artists whom people don’t know as well.”
Haag says this new show is an effort by the Crash Pad to “be more in touch with the community.”
He adds that in addition to being a new event with new artists, this show is uncommon because the Crash Pad will return more profit for sales of pieces to the artists than they would traditionally receive in a gallery show.
Participating artists will be Ady Caloca, Leo Ascarate, Robert Schoolfield, Tori Fyfe, Tony Mraz, Jamie Jameson, Manuel Greaves, Madison Weisenseel and Turry Lindstrom.
Entry to this event is free, and the public is invited to drop by between 2 and 7 p.m. Beer will be available to guests who are of legal drinking age.
