Local gas prices drop to 2017 low
Chattanooga gas prices, on average, fell last week to the lowest level since last November. The online gas tracking service GasBuddy.com said its survey of 170 Chattanooga area service stations showed the average price of regular gas fell another 2.8 cents per gallon las week to $12 per gallon.
Local gas prices average 34 cents per gallon below the national average and are now 15.3 cents per gallon cheaper than a year ago.
Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, said he expects another week of declining prices, barring an unexpected hurricane, because of healthy supplies of gasoline.
“It looks like even OPEC’s best move to thwart supply increases hasn’t done much thanks to U.S. oil production which has charged back like a bull,” he said.
