Sequatchie County, Tenn., authorities are looking for clues to the identity of a body found in April down an embankment on state Highway 111 on Walden’s Ridge.
Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock said so far officials only know the body is that of a woman of undetermined age or race.
“We just don’t know anything different,” he said. Foul play isn’t suspected, nor has it been ruled out, he said.
“We’ve had several calls,” Hitchcock said about inquiries from other agencies.
The woman’s badly decomposed body was found April 27 by inmates picking up litter along Highway 111 on the southbound side of the road. The body was lying face up about 15-20 feet down the embankment from the guardrail. A combination of rain, sun, warm weather and other natural factors caused it to decompose to the point officials initially could determine nothing, Hitchock said.
