If Trump says it, people swallow it
I am 60-plus years old and I have known of Donald Trump all my adult life. He has always expressed pride in cheating on taxes, mocking disabled people, sexually assaulting women and generally being a rude bully. People voted for him, I must assume, because this is what they admire.
Now he is trying to destroy democracy in America to protect and expand his family’s wealth. I knew he would try this because it is no different than how he has behaved all his life. It’s becoming more apparent to me that those who continue to support him must want the same thing – an authoritarian dictatorship that oppresses dissenters (mostly poor Americans) and establishes a single-party administration with only one government approved media outlet. A system very much like Vladimir Putin has in Russia. Mr. Trump has expressed respect for Mr. Putin along with Erdogan in Turkey, Duterte in the Philippines and Kim Jong-un of North Korea, calling them all “strong leaders.” I guess his supporters must feel the same way.
