On a light-hitting night for both teams, the Montgomery Biscuits capitalized on their scoring opportunities better than the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Montgomery starter Jose Mujica allowed five hits in 6 2/3 innings, Justin O’Conner had an RBI single in the second and Grant Kay added a two-run double in the eighth to beat the Lookouts 3-0 Saturday in front of 4,568 at AT&T Field.
Chattanooga outhit Montgomery 6-5, but the Lookouts left 10 runners on base and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
In the ninth, T.J. White drew a leadoff walk – he moved to second on a passed ball – and Jose Gonzalez walked after Travis Harrison struck out. But Ryan Walker and Nick Gordon struck out swinging as the Lookouts’ winning streak ended at four games.
The finale of the five-game series is at 6:15 tonight, with postgame fireworks scheduled. It’s also military appreciation night, with free admission for active and veteran service members and their families, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Lookouts logo baseball.
