ORIGINAL STORY: Chattanooga firefighters rescued a woman from a burning house on Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the 4000 block of Rogers Rd. when they were told that someone may still be inside.
A large amount of smoke and flames were visible on the back of the house when the first firefighters arrived on scene, according to Battalion Chief Nate Middlebrooks. While some firefighters began to extinguish the flames, others made their way into the house to search for victims.
Firefighter Jake Case found a woman on the floor right behind the front door and pulled her out of the house before handing her off to other firefighters, who immediately began administering CPR.
The woman was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital. No other injuries have been reported.
More firefighters arrived and the fire was eventually extinguished. The damage to the house was substantial and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
