Chattanooga State Community College will host weekly information sessions for its Tennessee Reconnect program for the next four months.

The information sessions will be held at a variety of locations to accommodate adults and their schedules from across the region. They will run through May.

Reconnect is a part of the state’s Drive to 55 initiative, through which Gov. Bill Haslam set the goal of boosting the percentage of working-age residents with post-secondary degrees or certificates to 55 percent by the year 2025.

It’s a product of the Tennessee Reconnect Act, which establishes a last-dollar scholarship for adults to attend a community college tuition-free. Starting in the 2018-19 school year, eligible adults will be able to receive those funds.

Information sessions on the main campus at 4501 Amnicola Highway will be held in the Student Support Center located in the Instructional Materials Center building at 10 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays, at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays, and at 10 a.m. on the fourth Saturday each month.

Sessions in Dayton, at 200 4th Ave., will be held at 3:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month and sessions at the school’s Kimball site, at 2100 Main St., will be held on the first Thursday of the month.

Those interested in attending an information session can RSVP by calling 423-697-3346 or emailing tnreconnect@chattanoogastate.edu.

To be eligible for a TN Reconnect grant, adults must not have previously received an associate or bachelor’s degree, be enrolled at least part time, maintain a minimum GPA, and must have filed a FAFSA application for federal aid.
