Did you know?

The YMCA of Greater Chattanooga as well as the Cleveland YMCA and North Georgia Community YMCA offers School Break Camps during scheduled school closures, such as spring and holiday breaks.

Many working parents lean heavily on after-school programs to serve as safe havens that provide structure for their kids while Mom and Dad are still at work. The once-common dynamic of single-income households, where only one of the parents went to work each day, is now largely a thing of the past.

The biggest thing for many parents when choosing an after-school program is cost. Chambliss Center for Children helps alleviate that concern. The cost is based on family income, and Lesley Berryhill, director of communications, says they work really hard to help meet families’ needs.

“The biggest thing about our program is that we’re 24/7,” Berryhill adds. “So for parents who have to be at work early, we can take their kids at 4 a.m. and then make sure they have breakfast and then bus them to school.”

Chambliss buses to 11-14 Hamilton County schools and serves three meals a day. In the afternoons, students can get a nutritious meal, start and complete their homework and find various activities to keep them busy until it’s time to go home.
