Chattanooga starting pitcher Randy LeBlanc collected eight strikeouts in seven scoreless innings Thursday night as the Lookouts continued their mastery over Jackson with a 3-0 triumph at AT&T Field.
The Lookouts improved to 21-13 with their fifth consecutive victory over the Generals, with the latest win occurring before an announced crowd of 3,844.
LeBlanc (5-1) lowered his ERA to 2.23. Sam Clay and Williams Ramirez each worked an inning to complete the shutout.
The Lookouts had Brent Rooker on third base and Nick Gordon on first base during the first inning when Ryan Atkinson committed a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. That enabled Rooker to score and Gordon to advance to second, and a Chris Paul single to right field scored Gordon to make it 2-0.
Brian Navarreto’s home run to left in the fourth inning made it 3-0.
Before Thursday’s game, the Lookouts announced relief pitcher Zack Jones (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list retroactive to Wednesday. Jones has made nine appearances with Chattanooga this season, posting a 1-0 mark with a 3.07 ERA.
Replacing Jones on the roster is reliever Casey Crosby, who is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA in five appearances this season with Triple-A Rochester (N.Y.).
