Bredesen will support ‘leftist’ values in Senate

Fellow Tennesseans: If you support open borders, sanctuary cities, taxpayer-funded abortions, government control of your health care, Common Core, higher taxes and judges who legislate instead of judge existing law, then cast your vote for Phil Bredesen.

These are the things he will support as senator. However, these are not Tennessee values or what most Tennesseans support. These are leftist values and issues that Bredesen will support and vote for. Remember this when you cast your ballot.

U.S. tax revenues are up, not down

Regarding the letter titled “Beware a slump in the economy,” item three wrongly states “Tax revenues are way down.”

Wrong! OMB figures from www.thebalance.com:

2017 – $3.32 trillion

2018 (est.) – $3.34 trillion

2019 (est.) $3.422 trillion

Just another liberal professor indoctrinating his students and the liberal Chattanooga Times Free Press printing it.

Mocs need smaller football stadium

Concerning Mark Wiedmer’s commentary about the Mocs football team, I largely agree about the team’s improvement over last year and its lack of fan support. As a former player in the early ’60s and loyal fan for more than 50 years, I think it’s time we realize Chattanooga is not going to support the program regardless how good it is.

For decades, nothing has changed. We’ve seen this from Scrappy Moore’s day to today. I cannot explain how much smaller cities like Jacksonville, Ala., Boone, N.C., or Bristol, Tenn., can put more people in their stadiums than we can.

We’re in the middle of the football-crazy South, and the local soccer club puts more people in Finley Stadium than the Mocs. It’s time to stop pretending to be something we aren’t. I’m of the opinion it’s time for us to leave Finley and build a smaller stadium that fits who we are. I’d rather have a 12,000-seat stadium with 8,000 fans than a 20,000-seat stadium with 8,000 fans. Build one near the campus that fits our need. We have no pride, no identity. Shame on us.

Vote for Bredesen is a vote for state

Tennesseans need a senator who represents us – a senator who knows our important issues such as affordable health care, education and our state economy. That senator is Phil Bredesen.

As a former mayor of Nashville and a two-term Tennessee governor, he is a moderate who is experienced in working across the political aisle to solve problems that matter to Tennessee. He’s not a divisive politician who values winning at all costs like many current Republican Congress members. And he’s certainly not like his opponent, Marsha Blackburn, who’s in lockstep with Donald Trump, a president who believes Southerners talk with funny accents and aren’t smart. Trump knows little or nothing about Tennesseans. We can’t afford to have a senator like Blackburn whose loyalty is to a president who breeds constant chaos and corruption.

Blackburn is all in on Trump. It’s her only political strategy. At a recent Blackburn fundraiser, Trump said, “A vote for Blackburn is a vote for me.” But a vote for Bredesen is a vote for Tennessee. We need someone like that.
