Lee University’s centennial homecoming weekend will include performances of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” C. S. Lewis’ story adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette.

Performances are scheduled in the Buzz Oates Black Box Theater for Nov. 2-3 and 8-10 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on Nov. 3 and 10 at 2:30 p.m.

This dramatization of Lewis’ classic faithfully re-creates the magic of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and end the reign of Aslan.

All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter, the witnessing of Aslan’s resurrection by Susan and Lucy.

“We are so excited to present ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,'” says Dan Buck, associate professor of theatre and director of the play. “It is such a beloved story that the excitement level is very high among the cast and audiences. We are also glad to offer something for families with children during the homecoming celebration.”

Tickets are $10 adults, $7 for children, senior adults and students. The play is appropriate for all ages.
