A Franklin County, Tennessee, correctional officer is recovering from a broken leg sustained Monday in an altercation with an inmate at the county jail.

Around 7:15 p.m. CDT Monday, corrections officer Jonathan Baker was involved in a physical altercation with inmate Brandon James Quick, of Knights Church Road in Decherd, Tennessee, according to a news release issued Tuesday from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Winchester.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Chris Guess said in the release that Baker’s leg was broken during the altercation, and the officer was transported to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga for treatment.

Guess said Quick had been jailed on theft of property charges when the altercation occurred. He now faces additional charges in an ongoing investigation, Guess said.

The case will be presented to the Franklin County grand jury, he said. More details could be released later.
