KNOXVILLE – Tennessee fans looking for hope following a 40-14 season-opening loss to West Virginia might be directing their hopes toward JJ Peterson.
The freshman linebacker arrived on campus over the weekend after the NCAA cleared him following some academic hang-ups that delayed his enrollment.
This is significant because Peterson is the highest-rated player from the Volunteers’ 2018 signing class. He picked Tennessee over Alabama.
Had he enrolled in the summer, Peterson would likely be on track to contribute to the defense as a true freshman.
Is he destined for a redshirt year because of his delayed enrollment? Or could Peterson still make an early impact on head coach Jeremy Pruitt’s first Tennessee defense?
Vols beat writer David Cobb discusses this topic in today’s episode of The Vols Beat Podcast.
