University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore receiver Bryce Nunnelly was named the Football Championship Subdivision national offensive player of the week Monday.
Earlier in the day, he was awarded the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week award for the second consecutive time.
Nunnelly caught 10 passes for 268 yards and a pair of scores in the Mocs’ 29-28 victory at The Citadel, with scoring receptions of 76 and 20 yards. He also had a 58-yard reception late in the fourth quarter that put the Mocs deep in Citadel territory, and threw the game-winning two-point conversion pass to Jordan Giberti in overtime.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Walker Valley product’s 268 yards were seven shy of setting a new UTC record, with former Moc Joel Bradford gaining 274 yards against Furman in 2010.
Nunnelly has 17 catches for 429 yards and three scores in the first two weeks, with the yardage total topping the Football Championship Subdivision while his 8.5 receptions per game rank fifth in the country and second in the Southern Conference.
