Ringgold expanding medical corridor; Tennessee Oncology, other developments planned for center

Along Battlefield Parkway west of Interstate 75 , a medical corridor of offices and clinics is quickly developing to serve the growing North Georgia area.

Across from CHI Memorial's Family Practice Associates offices and a new Prime Imaging office being built in Ringgold, developer Larry Armour said he hopes to close today on the purchase of the next phase of his Heritage Pointe project, which will include another office for a cancer treatment facility operated by Tennessee Oncology.

When it opens in early 2020, the new Tennessee Oncology office will be one of more than 30 on-site chemotherapy treatment locations for the firm and the first in Georgia.

Armour's latest property, which he is acquiring from the Catoosa County Economic Development Authority, is adjacent to a 13,000-square-foot office for The Center for Sports Medicine which he opened last year.

Armour said he plans to begin construction next week on a new 15,000-square-foot center, about half of which will be leased to Tennessee Oncology.

With the latest $4 million development, Armour will have developed about four of the 20 acres the county development authority assembled at the intersection of Battlefield Parkway and Pine Grove Road.

"We're pleased to break ground on the second phase of a development that has already generated tremendous revenue for Catoosa County," said Rick Partain, chairman of the Catoosa County Economic Development Authority. "Armour Commercial Real Estate is a valuable partner in creating quality jobs and increasing sales revenue throughout the area."

Over the past eight years, Armour has already developed more than 400,000 combined square feet in Catoosa County, including new Costco and Cabela's stores which combined have generated over $200 million in retail sales and created over 350 jobs.

"This opportunity to expand North Georgia's medical community is the next step in generating sustainable growth throughout the area," Armour said. "It's amazing how much North Georgia is growing and Catoosa County is a great place to do business. Everything we have done in Catoosa County is fully leased and has done real well."

Armour said he plans to have the new complex open by next February and envisions more retail, commercial and medical facilities on the balance of the site in coming years.
