Former McCallie School quarterback JaVaughn Craig had two touchdown passes and a touchdown run as part of his 164-yard rushing performance to lead Austin Peay to a 42-28 win at Sacramento State late Saturday in the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. Craig finished 18-of-28 passing for 204 yards with an interception, and he had a 58-yard run to set up his 18-yard scramble for a score as the Governors (11-3) went ahead 35-7 with less than six minutes to play in the third quarter. Austin Peay, in the FCS playoffs for the first time, set a program record for wins in a season and advanced to a quarterfinal Friday night at No. 5 seed Montana State (10-3). Sacramento State finished 9-4. Craig’s big night came two days after his high school alma mater won the Division II-AAA championship for the second TSSAA football state title in school history.
