No doubt about it, February can be dreary. The holiday hype and thrill of the new year have worn off, replaced by a longing for the warmer days ahead. We can’t make spring get here any faster, but we can offer some suggestions to help you pass the time this month, and hopefully make spirits bright again in the process.

1. Bundle up and visit the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge through February to see (and hear) tens of thousands of wintering sandhill cranes, known for their crimson caps and elegant mating dances.

2. See one of the last few movies in the Bobby Stone Film Series at the Tivoli: “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” Feb. 2 or “Despicable Me” Feb. 3.

3. Or, see the Kristen Bell-narrated “Pandas 3D” at the IMAX. It’s unbearably cute.

4. Reconnect with your inner child (and your own forever-21-year-old) at one of the Creative Discovery Museum’s popular “Drink & Discover” nights. To find out when the next one is announced, sign up at tinyurl.com/DrinkAndDiscoverInvite.
