We have our opinions on abortion, but is there logic behind them or only emotion? Emotion clouds judgment, making it a poor reason for any important decision. So please, may we look at the logic of abortion without shouting at one another?
The basic issue is not your right to your own body; we all accept many restrictions on that right every day. They’re the societal norms (laws.) The basic question that you must answer is when does life truly begin. The legislatures of some states now say that life begins whenever the mother and her doctor say it does. That makes it legal to “get rid of” whatever it is that is growing in her body at any time of their mutual choosing.
This in turn demands that – without shouting – we decide “legally” as a society: What is life? Those of us who admit ignorance cannot say for sure, so we must fail-safe and protect “it” from the moment of conception. But I’m not shouting at you about it. Is it OK if I pray quietly?
