Pardon me, boy … . Is that the Glenn Miller Orchestra?
Yes, the big band that made “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” so famous that the tune became the first song to receive a gold record, is coming to Cleveland, Tennessee, for one night only.
The World-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will play Friday, Feb. 1, for a gala sponsored by Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce to raise funds for arts programs in schools.
Tickets are $100 per person, which includes a filet mignon dinner at the Cleveland Country Club and an hour of ballroom dancing lessons taught by Jack and Ollie Hall.
Thursday is the deadline to make reservations; no walk-ups will be accepted at the door.
The gala will begin with ballroom dancing at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 before the evening’s entertainment from the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Expect to hear such standards as “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Little Brown Jug” and “Pennsylvania 6-5000.”
